4VR Young

Virtual Reality interface designed by Mark Chignell, Interactive Media Lab, U of T

This interface, originally meant to be used as a fitness tool for elderly people, features a set up of a chair next to a set of pedals for both the legs and the arms. The subject sits down while using both sets of pedals simultaneously while wearing VR glasses. The subject is shown video meant to mimic the experience of biking through different trails and paths. There is also an auditory component which gives the subject a sense of ambient noise as they are biking along.

This website was created by me, Tanya Humeniuk, as a follow-up to my internship assisting at the workshop, but also as a project within the framework of a graduate directed reading course at UofT called "DRA4091H: Brecht, Transmedia, and Learning" with Prof. Antje Budde.
