SATI
SATI is a movement-based interface designed by Renusha Athugala, RMIT Vietnam

This interface was inspired by Sati, a cultural form of martial arts that is used as a form of meditation. Renusha wanted to create an interface that combined an aesthetic experience with technology that could help one destress and recenter oneself in their own body.

The interface consists of a 5-minute video clip of a monk avatar doing Tai Chi projected onto a wall while ocean and bird sounds are heard in the background. The subject positions themselves in front of a camera and faces the projected video. As the subject attempts to mirror the movements of the monk, the idea is that they get closer and closer to doing the same movements as the monk, or at the very least reaches a more relaxed state. The position of the subject is captured by the camera and superimposed as a trace on top of the video of the monk. As this this happens and the subject aligns their movements with the monk, the background sounds get louder providing an additional layer of feedback beyond the video projection.
